Georgios Kostikos (Greek: Γεώργιος Κωστίκος; born 26 April 1958) is a Greek former internationalfootballer who played as astriker.
Kostikos made hisGreek League debut withPierikos in 1975 and two years later he was acquired byPAOK.[1] He played for PAOK from 1977 to 1986, winning the1985 league title and netting 97 goals in 294 appearances in all competitions. In 1986, he moved torivalsOlympiacos and won the1987 league title. The next year, he finished his career atDiagoras, being only 30 years old.[2][3]
Kostikos made 35 appearances and scored three goals for theGreece national football team from 1977 to 1984.[4] He also participated in theUEFA Euro 1980 that was held in Italy.
In 2006, after the dismissal of PAOK manager,Nikos Karageorgiou, Kostikos took over the team as a caretaker manager. After Kostikos successfully led PAOK to the2005–06 UEFA Cup Group stage, PAOK president Giannis Goumenos named Kostikos as the permanent coach of PAOK. In the 2007–08 season, Kostikos managedNea Salamina ofFamagusta inCyprus. Since 2012, Kostikos is one of PAOK chiefscouts.
His parents wererefugees of the Greek Civil War. His brother Alekos (1953–1991) was agoalkeeper and died in a car accident. His sonGiorgos Kostikos plays as amidfielder.
