Georgina Campbell is an English actress. She won the 2015BAFTA TV Award for Best Actress forMurdered by My Boyfriend (2014), making her the first black and first non-white actress to win that award. Her other television credits includeFlowers (2016),Broadchurch (2017), theBlack Mirror episode "Hang the DJ" (2017),Krypton (2018), andThe Pale Horse (2020). She made her film debut with a minor role inKing Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017) and has starred in the horror filmsBarbarian (2022),Bird Box Barcelona (2023),T.I.M. Early life and education

Campbell was born inSheffield,South Yorkshire, England,[1] to a whiteEnglish mother[1] and aJamaican father.[2] Her mother is a retired teacher and her father is a police officer.[1] She is the second of three daughters. After her parents divorced, she was primarily raised by her mother and stepfather inDartford,Kent.[3] She spent her younger years inWilmington.[1][4]

Campbell graduated with aBachelor of Arts inFilm Studies fromRoyal Holloway, University of London in 2014.[4][5][6]

At 16, Campbell was scouted in the street for her first role as Lucy in the 2009 web seriesFreak.[3] She had minor roles in series such asCasualty,Holby City,Doctors, andDeath in Paradise. Campbell was 22 when she won theBAFTA TV Award for Best Actress for her role as Ashley Jones in theBBC Three television filmMurdered by My Boyfriend (2014),[3] making her the first black[7][5] and first non-white Best Actress winner.[8]

In 2015, Campbell starred in theSky 1 comedy dramaAfter Hours as Jasmine.[3] The first season was directed byCraig Cash and was broadcast in November 2015. She had a lead role in the TV mini-seriesTripped (2015), a supporting role in the BBC drama mini-seriesOne of Us (2016), and she appeared inChannel 4 black comedy seriesFlowers (2016).[3]

In 2017, she made her film debut with a minor role inGuy Ritchie'sKing Arthur: Legend of the Sword,[9] and appeared in theITV drama seriesBroadchurch as DC Katie Harford, and inBlack Mirror, series 4 episode 4, "Hang the DJ", as Amy.[8] In 2018, she began playing Lyta-Zod inSyfy drama seriesKrypton.[8] In 2019, she appeared in one episode ofHBO's fantasy drama television seriesHis Dark Materials.[10]

In February 2019, Campbell was featured onForbes 30 Under 30 Europe list.[7]

In 2023, she co-starred in the post-apocalyptic horror thriller filmBird Box Barcelona,[13] in the sci-fi thrillerT.I.M.,[14] and in the horror filmLovely, Dark, and Deep.[15][16]

In 2024, Campbell co-starred in the supernatural horror filmThe Watchers, directed byIshana Night Shyamalan.[17]

In 2025, she will star in the horror thrillerInfluencers, directed by Kurtis David Harder.[18] In 2026, she will star in the horror thrillersPsycho Killer, directed byGavin Polone,[19] andCold Storage, directed byJonny Campbell.[20]
