Georgia-Imeretia Governorate (Russian:Грузино-Имеретинская губерния,Georgian:საქართველო-იმერეთის გუბერნია) was a short-livedgovernorate (guberniya) of theCaucasus Viceroyalty of theRussian Empire, administered fromTiflis (Tbilisi). Roughly corresponding to modernGeorgia and parts ofArmenia andAzerbaijan, it was created in 1840 from the territory of theGeorgia Governorate and the oblasts ofImereti andArmenia.

It was established on the basis of the law on administrative reform, approved by EmperorNicholas I on 10 April 1840 under the title "Establishment for the administration of theTranscaucasian region",[1] by uniting the territories of the abolishedGeorgian province,Armenian andImereti regions. It was divided into 8 counties:Akhaltsikhe, Belokan (in 1844 it was separated into a separateJar-Balakan district),Guria,Gori,Elizavetpol,Kutaisi,Telavi andErivan.

The highest decree of 14 December 1846 introduced changes in the administrative-territorial organization of Transcaucasia. The whole region was divided into four provinces:Tiflis,Kutaisi,Shemakha andDerbent. The Georgian-Imereti province was abolished.
