TheGeorge Blumenthal House was amansion at 50 East 70th Street on theUpper East Side ofManhattan inNew York City. It was constructed for George Blumenthal, wife ofFlorence Meyer Blumenthal.[1]
The 4-story mansion was designed byTrowbridge & Livingston, and featuredlimestone facing. DuringProhibition, the building operated as aspeakeasy until it was raided by theNew York City Police Department in 1932.[2] It was later sold to theMetropolitan Museum of Art. The building was demolished in 1945,[3] and a 20-storyapartment was built on the property.[4]
