
Georg Huth (25 February 1867 – 1 June 1906) was a GermanOrientalist andexplorer.
Huth was born inKrotoszyn (Krotoschin) in theProvince of Posen,Prussia. In 1885, he entered theUniversity of Berlin, and he graduated at theUniversity of Leipzig (Ph.D.) in 1889. In 1891, he established himself atBerlin University as lecturer inCentral Asiatic languages and inBuddhism. In 1897, he undertook a journey toSiberia for the purpose of studyingTungusic, receiving a subvention from theImperial Academy of Sciences of St. Petersburg. He went to easternTurkestan with theGerman Turfan expedition of theKönigliches Museum für Völkerkunde of Berlin, in 1902, and spent the following year in western Turkestan studyingTurkish dialects andfolklore.
