Geoffrey Kelsall Peto (8 September 1878 – 8 January 1956) was a BritishConservative Party politician andMember of Parliament (MP). In business, he became a director of the industrial firmMorgan Crucible Company.
At the1923 general election, he stood unsuccessfully in theLouth constituency inLincolnshire. The following year, in the1924 general election, he was electedMember of Parliament forFrome inSomerset, but lost the seat in thegeneral election of 1929.
Peto was returned to theHouse of Commons at the1931 general election for theBilston constituency inWolverhampton and retired fromParliament at the1935 election. During this period, he acted asParliamentary Private Secretary toWalter Runciman, thePresident of the Board of Trade.
In 1938, Peto served as a member of the Runciman Mission to Czechoslovakia.[1]
He was married to Pauline and they had one child.[2]Charles Tennyson (civil servant) dedicated a book to him and their long friendship.[3]
