Geoffrey Perret is an English author who writes aboutAmerican history. His work focuses primarily upon the political dynamics that influence strategic and tactical military decisions, as well as broader political themes. He has published over thirteen books dealing with a variety of topics such as theUS Presidency, including several biographies of iconic Presidents such asJohn F. Kennedy andUlysses S. Grant; leading American military commanders such asDouglas MacArthur; and pivotalAmerican military engagements. He also has had one novel, "Executive Privilege" published.
His earlier works use the spelling "Perrett" for his last name.
After serving in theUS Army for three years, Perret studied atLong Beach City College and then obtained his undergraduate degreesumma cum laude from theUniversity of Southern California in 1967. He was also elected toPhi Beta Kappa. He obtained his postgraduate degree fromHarvard University in 1969 and then studied law at the University of California at Berkeley.[1]
