Gennevilliers (French pronunciation:[ʒœnvilje]) is acommune in the northwestern suburbs ofParis, in theHauts-de-Seinedepartment ofÎle-de-France. It is located 9.1 km (5.7 mi) from thecentre of Paris.

History

On 9 April 1929, one-fifth of the territory of Gennevilliers was detached and became the commune ofVilleneuve-la-Garenne. Gennevilliers is the site of the main river portPort of Gennevilliers of Paris on theSeine. TheHôtel de Ville was completed in 1977.[3]

Gennevilliers is served by three stations onParis Métro Line 13:Les Courtilles,Les Agnettes andGabriel Péri. All three are at the border with the commune ofAsnières-sur-Seine.

Gennevilliers is also served by two stations onRER C (Les Grésillons andGennevilliers), as well as five stops onÎle-de-France tramway Line 1.
