TheGeneral Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Ukrainian:Генеральний штаб Збройних сил України,romanizedHeneralnyi shtab Zbroinykh syl Ukrainy) is themilitary staff of theArmed Forces of Ukraine. It is the central organ of the Armed Forces Administration and oversees operational management of the armed forces under theMinistry of Defence of Ukraine.

TheChief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is appointed by thePresident of Ukraine, who is theSupreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. On 28 March 2020 the position ofCommander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was separated from that of the Chief of the General Staff. The current Chief of the General Staff isAndrii Hnatov,[2] and the Commander-in-Chief isOleksandr Syrskyi.

The General Staff was created in 1991–92 on the basis of theKyiv Military District headquarters of the formerSoviet Armed Forces.
