Military staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
TheGeneral Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Ukrainian :Генеральний штаб Збройних сил України ,romanized : Heneralnyi shtab Zbroinykh syl Ukrainy military staff of theArmed Forces of Ukraine . It is the central organ of the Armed Forces Administration and oversees operational management of the armed forces under theMinistry of Defence of Ukraine .
TheChief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is appointed by thePresident of Ukraine , who is theSupreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine . On 28 March 2020 the position ofCommander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was separated from that of the Chief of the General Staff. The current Chief of the General Staff isAndrii Hnatov ,[ 2] Oleksandr Syrskyi .
The General Staff was created in 1991–92 on the basis of theKyiv Military District headquarters of the formerSoviet Armed Forces .
