Ge Wang (born November 2, 1977) is aChinese American professor, musician,computer scientist, designer, and author. He is best known for inventing theChucK audio programming language[1] and for being the co-founder, chief technology officer (CTO), and chief creative officer (CCO) ofSmule, a company makingiPhone andiPad music apps.[2][3][4][5][6][7]
Wang is also known for creating thePrinceton Laptop Orchestra and later foundedStanford Laptop Orchestra,[2][3] as well as the Stanford Mobile Phone Orchestra.[4][8]
He is the designer of the Ocarina[9] and Magic Piano iPhone apps. He is currently an associate professor atStanford University’sCenter for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA).[2][4]
He is the author ofArtful Design: Technology in Search of the Sublime (A MusiComic Manifesto),[10] a book on design and technology, art and life, created entirely in the format of aphoto comic book, published byStanford University Press in 2018.[citation needed]
