Gavin Bartholomew (born April 30, 2003) is an American professionalfootballtight end for theMinnesota Vikings of theNational Football League (NFL). He playedcollege football for thePittsburgh Panthers and was selected by the Vikings in the sixth round of the2025 NFL draft.

Early life

Bartholomew was born on April 30, 2003, and grew up inSchuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania.[1] He started playingfootball inthird grade and also competed inbaseball growing up.[1] He attendedBlue Mountain High School where he competed in football, baseball andtrack and field.[1] He started atquarterback at Blue Mountain, before moving todefensive end andtight end as a sophomore; he started at defensive end for his final three seasons and was a starter at tight end as ajunior andsenior.[1] He caught 27 passes for 527 yards and fivetouchdowns as a junior and was named teamcaptain as a senior, catching six passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns before returning to quarterback to conclude the season.[1] A three-star recruit, he committed to playcollege football as a tight end for thePittsburgh Panthers, after having flipped from theBuffalo Bulls.[2][3]

College career

As a truefreshman with the Panthers in 2021, Bartholomew caught 28 passes for 326 yards and four touchdowns.[4] He was named honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and was chosen second-team FreshmanAll-American for his performance.[1] He played in 13 games, 10 as a starter, in 2022, posting 21 catches for 283 yards and two touchdowns, and he then caught 18 passes for 326 yards and one touchdown in the 2023 season, during which he started all 10 games in which he appeared.[1] As a senior in 2024, he served as a team captain and caught 38 passes for 322 yards and four touchdowns.[5][6] He concluded his collegiate career having started 41 games and totaled 104 receptions for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns.[6] He accepted an invite to the2025 Senior Bowl.[7]
