Garry Thomas Morse is aCanadian poet and novelist.[1] He is a two-time nominee for theGovernor General's Award for English-language poetry, at the2011 Governor General's Awards forDiscovery Passages[2] and at the2016 Governor General's Awards forPrairie Harbour,[3] and a two-timeReLit Award nominee for his fiction worksMinor Episodes / Major Ruckus in 2013 andRogue Cells / Carbon Harbour in 2014.[4]
He is ofKwakwaka'wakw descent, andDiscovery Passages centred on the historical banning of the traditional Kwakwaka'wakwpotlatch and its cultural and social impact on the First Nation.[5]
He has worked as an editor forTalonbooks and Signature Editions.[6] Originally fromBritish Columbia,[7] he is currently based inWinnipeg.[4]
Morse was selected asSaskatoon Public Library's Writer in Residence for 2023/24.
