TheGambia Ports Authority (GPA) is agovernment agency responsible for the governance and maintenance of the ports andport facilities ofthe Gambia, principally that of thePort of Banjul on theGambia River. The GPA was founded in 1972[1] and it is a member of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa.[2] Ports Authority offices are in Banjul.
Principal facilities include the Banjul Wharf and the New Banjul Jetty and Extension; acontainer terminal,freight terminal,bonded warehouse complex, oil boom, workshops and adocument handling centre.[3] Expansion plans includejetty expansion; a newferry terminal and head office building; newcomputer cabling and a new car and truck terminal area.[4]
