Fossil remains from Coste San Giacomo, dating to about 2.1 Ma, showG. meneghinii to have been a mixed feeder.[ 9] [ 10] Gelasian -Calabrian transition instead suggest thatG. meneghinii was agrazer , as evidenced by its dental wear showing signs of heavy consumption ofgrass , grit, anddust . It had a preference for mountainous habitats.[ 11]
