Galidictis is a genus in the subfamilyGalidiinae of the familyEupleridae: a group ofcarnivorans that are endemic toMadagascar.[1]
The name is from two ancient Greek words that both approximately mean ‘weasel’:galid- (seeGalidia) andiktis.[2] Compare the wordGalictis (grison, a closer relative of the weasel).
