Galerius Peak (Bulgarian:връх Галерий,romanized: vrah Galeriy,IPA:[ˈvrɤɣɡɐˈlɛrij]) is the ice-covered peak rising to 1259 m[1] and forming the north extremity ofLassus Mountains, northernAlexander Island inAntarctica. It surmountsIliev Glacier to the west,Palestrina Glacier to the north andMcManus Glacier to the east.
The feature is named after theThracian-born Roman EmperorGalerius, 293-311 AD, who issued inSerdica (presentSofia) theEdict of Toleration legitimizingChristianity in theRoman Empire in 311 AD.
Galerius Peak is located at69°27′55″S71°32′58″W / 69.46528°S 71.54944°W /-69.46528; -71.54944, which is 3.28 km east-northeast ofVittoria Buttress, 7.4 km southeast ofMount Holt, 6 km southwest ofMount Braun inSofia University Mountains, and 3.53 km north ofMount Wilbye. British mapping in 1971.
