Gabriel Alonso Suazo Urbina (born 9 August 1997) is a Chilean professionalfootballer who plays as aleft-back ormidfielder forLigue 1 clubToulouse and theChile national team.

Club career

After playing in theColo-Colo youth teams since he was young,[1] Suazo made his first-team debut for the club on 19 July 2015 in aCopa Chile match againstDeportes Concepción.[2]

After nine seasons with Colo-Colo, Suazo signed for FrenchLigue 1 clubToulouse on 16 January 2023.[3] He became the second Chilean footballer to play for them afterJorge Infante in the 1970s.[4] He helped his side win theCoupe de France in his first season, assisting a goal in Toulouse's 5–1 win overNantes in thefinal.[5]

International career

Suazo was part of theChile under-20 squad that won theL'Alcúdia Tournament in 2015.[6] He also represented the under-20 team at the2017 South American Championship, and later played for theunder-23 team at the2019 Toulon Tournament.[7]

Suazo received his first call-up for the seniorChile national team for pre-Copa América Centenario friendly matches againstJamaica andMexico in May 2016, though he remained unused in both games.[8] He made his debut for Chile in a friendly match againstBurkina Faso on 2 June 2017.[9]

In June 2024, Suazo was named in Chile's squad for the2024 Copa América.[10] In their final group match againstCanada, he was sent off after accumulating two yellow cards within the first 30 minutes as Chile exited the tournament in the group stage.[11]

Personal life

Suazo was born and raised inSantiago. Growing up, his main idols includedGonzalo Fierro andMatías Fernández.[12]

In March 2022, he married Gabriela Rojas,[13] with whom he had been in a relationship for eight years.[14] The couple had a son born in May 2023 in France.[15]
