G. Balakrishnan Nair (1929–2011) was an Indianacademic, author andSanskrit scholar. He worked extensively on the philosophical works ofNarayana Guru.
Nair was born on 5 February 1923 inPeroorkada,Thiruvananthapuram to Govinda Pillai and Gourikutty Amma. He studied atGovernment Sanskrit College, earning a degree in Mahopadhyay. Following his studies, Nair worked atMahatma Gandhi College as aSanskrit tutor, before becoming a lecturer atUniversity College Trivandrum in 1955. Nair later taught atVictoria College.[1]
In 1963, Nair published his Malayalam translation of theTamil moral work of theTirukkural. It was a partial translation of the work.[2]
