Moiynkum (Kazakh:Мойынқұм; until 1997Furmanovka) is a village(auyl) in southeasternKazakhstan. It is the seat ofMoiynkum District ofJambyl Region. Population: 8,463 (2009 Census results).[1]
The village is located by theChu river, 80 kilometers (50 mi) to the southeast of lakeKokuydynkol. It lies at the northeastern edge of theMoiynkum Desert.[2][3]
Moiynkum has asteppe climate (Köppen:BSk),[4] with hot summers and cold winters.
