Fundu Moldovei (German:Luisenthal/Louisenthal or Fundul Moldawi/Fundu-Moldowi)[3][4] is acommune located inSuceava County,Bukovina, northeasternRomania. It is composed of ten villages, namely: Botuș, Botușel, Braniștea, Colacu, Delnița, Deluț, Fundu Moldovei, Obcina Ursului, Plai, and Smida Ungurenilor.
The commune was previously inhabited by a significant community ofZipser Germans (part of the largerBukovina German community of Suceava County and Bukovina) during themodern period up until the mid 20th century.[5]
Fundu Moldovei is also part of theVia Transilvanicalong-distance trail.[6]

As it is the case of other former mining rural settlements from Suceava County, Fundu Moldovei (German:Luisenthal) was previously inhabited by a sizeable German community, more specifically byZipser Germans (part of the largerBukovina German community) during themodern period up until the mid 20th century, starting as early as theHabsburg period and, later on, theAustro-Hungarian period.
