Fukushima United FC (福島ユナイテッドFC,Fukushima Yunaiteddo Efushī) is a Japanesefootball club fromFukushima City, the capital ofFukushima Prefecture. They currently play in theJ3 League, Japan's third tier of professional football.
The club was founded in 2006, by the merger ofFC Pelada Fukushima andJunkers. From the 2008 season, the club has adopted the new name asFukushima United FC. They played in theJapan Football League, the third tier of theJapanese football league system in 2013. Starting in 2014, they were promoted to the newly formed,J3 League.
On 28 October 2022, Fukushima United acquired the J2 license, meaning that from the 2022 season, they can now be promoted to theJ2 League if the club finishes the league season either on 1st or 2nd place.
The home stadium is inFukushima City,Toho Stadium (とうほう・みんなのスタジアム, Tōhō Min'na-no Stadium).
The stadium's original name was Toho Minnano Stadium. Since May 2013 it has been called Toho Stadium as the naming rights were required by Toho Bank. The stadium has a full 400 metre, nine lane athletics track around the playing surface. The J. League restricts the capacity to 6,464, as they do not regard grass seats included in the stadium capacity.The pitch surface is natrural grass. The stadium was opened in 1994.
Some home games are and have also been played at theAizu Athletic Park Stadium, inAizuwakamatsu City. Usually once per season. With a seating capacity of 7,300.
