Frederick Breithoff Weller[1] (born April 18, 1966) is an American actor known for portraying Johnny Sandowski onMissing Persons, Shane Mungitt inTake Me Out and Marshall Mann onIn Plain Sight.
Weller was born inNew Orleans, Louisiana, one of three sons of lawyers Carole Ann (née Breithoff) Weller (died 2017) and Francis Weller (1922–2018).[2][1][3] He is a 1984 graduate ofJesuit High School, a Catholic all-boys high school in New Orleans.[4] He graduatedsumma cum laude from theUniversity of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1988.[2][5][6] He then studied acting atThe Juilliard School as a member of the Drama Division'sGroup 21 (1988–1992).[7]

In 1993, Weller was one of the main regulars in the TV seriesMissing Persons. He has made guest appearances in episodes ofLaw & Order,Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,Law & Order: Criminal Intent,Monk andThe Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. He has also appeared in several well-received films, such asStonewall,The Business of Strangers,The Shape of Things, and the 2000 drama/miniseriesThe Beach Boys: An American Family portraying the characterBrian Wilson. He starred in theUSA Network comedy-drama seriesIn Plain Sight as DeputyU.S. Marshal Marshall Mann.
He appeared on Broadway in 2003 in the Tony award-winning playTake Me Out in which he appeared completely nude, and in 2014 in theTerrence McNally playMothers and Sons. In 2018, he appeared on Broadway as Bob Ewell inAaron Sorkin'sTo Kill a Mockingbird, an adaptation ofHarper Lee'snovel.[8]
Weller has played lead roles in many successful independent films, including Neil LaBute'sThe Shape of Things (withPaul Rudd,Rachel Weisz andGretchen Mol), James Toback'sWhen Will I Be Loved (oppositeNeve Campbell) andThe Business of Strangers (withStockard Channing andJulia Stiles).
Weller married actress Ali Marsh on September 6, 2003.[2] They have two children, a daughter born in 2007, whose godmother is hisIn Plain Sight co-starMary McCormack,[9] and a son born in 2010. He and his family live in theGreenwich Village neighborhood ofNew York City.[10]

Carole was one of the first 50 female lawyers in the State of Louisiana. She continued to practice law until 6 months ago, and she argued before the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal only 2 months before she was diagnosed with renal cancer. Carole was able to balance a law practice with raising a family, at a time when this type of dual role was almost unheard-of. Her unconditional love for her husband and sons lasted until the very end of her life;
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Carole,his twin brother Frederick, his sister Lois Becksfort, and his brother Willet Patrick Weller. He is survived by his three sons, Franz,Frederick, and Garald;
