
Frederick J. Mavin[1][2] (listed in some sources asFred Maven,[3] 1884–1957) was an English professionalfootballer andmanager. He began his career atNewcastle United, but did not make a first team appearance.[1] In 1905 he signed forNew Brompton.[1] He subsequently played forFulham,Bradford Park Avenue andReading between 1909 and 1921, and managedExeter City from 1923 to 1927,Crystal Palace from 1927 to 1930 andGillingham from 1932 to 1937.[3]
