Frantz Benjamin is a Canadian politician and poet, who was elected to theNational Assembly of Quebec in the2018 provincial election.[2] He represents the electoral district ofViau as a member of theQuebec Liberal Party. He is the third vice-president of theMNA since the 29th of november 2022.[3]
Benjamin formerly served as a member ofMontreal City Council and the chairman of the city council, representing the district of Saint-Michel in the borough ofVilleray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension.[4] Formerly associated with theUnion Montreal political party, he resigned on October 30, 2012 in protest against the allegations of corruption surrounding mayorGérald Tremblay at theCharbonneau commission hearings.[4] He sat as anindependent councillor until June 2013, when he reaffiliated with the newÉquipe Denis Coderre.[5]
