Franklin Pierce Lake, also known asJackman Reservoir,[1] is a 483-acre (2.0 km2)[2]reservoir located inHillsborough County in southernNew Hampshire, United States, in the towns ofHillsborough andAntrim. It is named forFranklin Pierce, the 14thpresident of the United States, who was born in Hillsborough in a log cabin, the site of which is now under the lake.[3] The lake impounds theNorth Branch of theContoocook River and lies within theMerrimack Riverwatershed.
The lake is classified as a warmwater fishery, with observed species includingrainbow trout,brown trout,largemouth bass,smallmouth bass,chain pickerel,horned pout,white perch,northern pike,bluegill, andblack crappie.[1]
