Frank Ostrowski (1960 – 2011)[1] was a German programmer best known for his implementations of theBASIC programming language.[2]
After his time with the German Federal Armed Forces, Frank Ostrowski was unemployed for three years. During this time, he developedTurbo-Basic XL for theAtari 8-bit computers. It was published in theGerman languageHappy Computer Magazine in December 1985 asListing of the Month. Turbo-Basic XL is both much faster and has more features than the standardAtari BASIC.[citation needed]
He soon got a job withGFA Systemtechnik GmbH (at the time known asIntegral Hydraulik) where he wroteGFA BASIC on theAtari ST which became one of the more popularBASICs on that platform.
Frank Ostrowski died in 2011 after a severe disease.
