Frank L. Ridley is an American film and television actor. Born into a musical family in Michigan, he originally trained as an opera singer withRichard Conrad. After attendingBoston Conservatory of Music, he started his career as a regular member ofSarah Caldwell'sOpera Company of Boston.[1]

Career

His television career started when he was cast as Terry Mulligan in the Showtime network seriesBrotherhood.[2] His other TV work includes roles onHouse of Cards,Orange is the New Black,Alpha House,Olive Kitteridge,The Night Of,The Leftovers, and30 Rock.[3]

He also can be seen in a variety of films includingInside Llewyn Davis,Birdman, andThe Judge.[3]

Honest Gil Fulbright is a satirical political candidate portrayed by Frank Ridley.[4] Fulbright originally "ran" for the U.S. Senate in 2014 as an "honest politician for Kentucky" on behalf ofRepresentUs.[5] His campaign message was "I'm only in this thing for the money, but at least I'm honest about it."[6]

Ridley has portrayed Fulbright onCNN,[7]The Today Show,[8]Fox & Friends,[9]Al Jazeera,[10]The Washington Post,[11] andThe Huffington Post.[12]

Fulbright's campaign got a powerful boost when noted artistShepard Fairey reimagined his iconicBarack Obama "Hope" poster as a Gil Fulbright "SOLD" poster to help raise funds for the finance-reform-minded satirical campaign.[13]
