Francisco Javier de Istúriz y Montero (31 October 1785 inCádiz[5] – 2 April 1871 inMadrid[6]) was a Spanishpolitician anddiplomat who served as thePrime Minister of Spain.[7] He also served as thePresident of the Senate andPresident of the Congress of Deputies several times.
Istúriz y Montero was aFreemason and operated a Masonic Lodge known as "El Pireo" out of his own home, where he was known by the name of "Brother Sagunto."[8][9] He was associated with the Gran Oriente de España (GOdE).[8]
