Florida's 23rd congressional district is anelectoral district for theU.S. Congress, located in theGreater Miami area and covering parts ofBroward County and southernPalm Beach County. In the2020 redistricting cycle, it was drawn as a successor to the previous22nd district and includesBoca Raton,Coral Springs, most ofDeerfield Beach andFort Lauderdale, and parts ofPompano Beach. The previous iteration of the 23rd district, which includedDavie andPembroke Pines, was instead renamed the25th district. The district, along with two other districts in Greater Miami, has one of the highest concentrations ofJewish Americans, consisting of about 14% of the electorate.[6] It is the wealthiest district in the state of Florida.[7]
Florida's 23rd congressional district was created after the1990 U.S. census. Democrat Alcee Hastings won the first election for the district in1992 until being redistricted to the 20th congressional district in 2013. From 2003 to 2013, the former 23rd district consisted of a major part ofBroward County and parts ofPalm Beach county. The district includedPompano Beach,Boynton Beach, andBelle Glade.
From 2013 to 2023, the district included cities such asWeston,Davie,Pembroke Pines, andAventura,[8][9] as well asFort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport andNova Southeastern University.
The district is currently represented byDemocratJared Moskowitz.
