Fish patties (Sinhala:මාළු පැටිස්) are adeep-friedsnack inSri Lanka, characterised by a savory fish (typicallymackerel ortuna) and potato filling encased in a crisp, golden-brown pastry shell.[1][2] They are a staple attea time, parties, and as a readily availableshort eat from bakeries and street vendors across the island.[2] The shape of the patties – often crescent or half-moon – are similar to Spanishempanadas and Southeast Asiancurry puffs.
