Fish Springs (formerly,Tinemaha andTinnemaha)[2] is a set of springs inInyo County,California.[3]
It is located in theOwens Valley, 6.5 miles (10 km) south-southeast ofBig Pine,[2] at an elevation of 3937 feet (1200 m).[1]
A post office operated at Fish Springs during part of 1866, and from 1868 to 1876.[2] A post office operated at Tinnemaha from 1895 to 1910.[2] Tinemaha is the name of a legendaryPiute of the region.[2]
TheTinemaha Reservoir, of theLos Angeles Aqueduct system, is located nearby.
