Fiona Glascott (born 22 November 1982) is anIrish actress. She is best known for playing the youngMinerva McGonagall in theFantastic Beasts franchise, which is a spin-off prequel of theHarry Potter film series.[3]
Glascott was born inWaterford, Ireland[1] and grew up inCarrick-on-Suir,County Tipperary.[4]
On stage in London she has appeared inMahler's Conversion (Aldwych Theatre, West End),[5]Hitchcock Blonde (Royal Court and Lyric Theatre, West End),[6] in the original production ofWhipping It Up at the Bush Theatre,[7] and as Margery Pinchwife inThe Country Wife (Haymarket, West End).[8] Her theatre credits in Dublin include:A Life (Abbey Theatre/National Tour),The Spirit of Annie Ross at the Gate Theatre, and as Nina inThe Seagull at the Corn Exchange.[4]
Her television credits includeBallykissangel,Fair City,The Bill,Bachelors Walk,Foyle's War andClone.[4][9] In 2010, she was a guest star in the final two-part episode of ITV's hit dramaA Touch of Frost, playing the troubled daughter of Frost's one-time corrupt colleague. In 2011, Glascott appeared in the recurring role of Diane on the BBC/Showtime sitcomEpisodes. That same year, she appeared as a novice nun with a secret in the episode "A Sacred Trust" of the detective drama seriesMidsomer Murders.[10] She co-starred as famed editorJudith Jones on the TV seriesJulia.
On film, Glascott has appeared inThis Is My Father,Crush Proof,Goldfish Memory,Omagh,The Duel andBrooklyn. She appeared in the 2009 CBS television movieMiss Irena's Children. She also starred inTorstein Blixfjord's 2012 short filmBird in a Box, alongsideBrian d'Arcy James.[11]
In 2018, Glascott joined the cast of theHarry Potter spin-off franchiseFantastic Beasts as a young Minerva McGonagall (a role originated byMaggie Smith) in the filmFantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, a role she would reprise in the 2022 sequelFantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore.[12] Her role in the film series was controversial for some fans of the series, as her character had not been believed to have been born yet and was shown in the film teaching at Hogwarts.[13][14][15]
In 2014, Glascott married actorTom Brooke, the son of actorPaul Brooke.[2] They have one daughter.[2]
