Chronology
PredecessorFIRE,SGE (TwinAir)

TheFCA Global Small Engine (or GSE, marketed asFireFly) is a family of engines produced byFiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) starting in 2016, and subsequently produced byStellantis, gradually replacing theFIRE (includingMultiAir versions) andSGE (TwinAir) units.[2]

It is a modular design (thusinline-3 andinline-4 guises share the same unitary displacement and components such as pistons andconnecting rods, so are able to be produced on the same production line), with aluminum cylinder heads and blocks and 77.0 mm cylinder bore spacing for all types.

It was introduced in 2016 in simplenaturally aspirated, 2-valve per cylinder withVVT,indirect injected,flex-fuel 1.0 inline-3 and 1.3 inline-4 versions for the South American market under the hood of the 2017 BrazilianFiat Uno.[3]

Next, it was introduced in 2018 to European andNorth American markets, inturbocharged,4-valve per cylinder, direct-injected andMultiAir III versions, under the hood of the 2019Jeep Renegade andFiat 500X facelifts.

In 2020, it was introduced to European and North American markets, inMHEV, 4-valve per cylinder and direct-injected versions, under the hood of the 2020Fiat 500,Fiat Panda (319) andLancia Ypsilon (846).
