Fernando Matías Zampedri (born 14 February 1988) is a professional footballer who plays forUniversidad Católica.[1] Born in Argentina, he plays for theChile national team.
Born inChajarí, Argentina, Zampedri was with club 1° de Mayo in his hometown as a youth player. Later, he spent one year withNewell's Old Boys, aged 13, before joiningAtlético Rafaela, with whom he made his professional debut in 2008. Subsequently, he played on loan forSportivo Belgrano andCrucero del Norte in theTorneo Argentino A. In 2013, he signed withGuillermo Brown in the same division.[2]
From 2014 to 2015, Zampedri played in thePrimera Nacional forBoca Unidos andJuventud Unida de Gualeguaychú.[3]
From 2016 to 2019, he played in theArgentine Primera División forAtlético Tucumán andRosario Central.[4][5]
In 2020, he was loaned out to Chilean clubUniversidad Católica,[6][5] signing a permanent contract the next season.[7]
A naturalized Chilean since February 2025, Zampedri was called up to theChile national team underRicardo Gareca for the2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers againstParaguay andEcuador on 20 and 25 March 2025, respectively.[8][9] He made his debut in the first match by replacingEduardo Vargas at minute 70.[10]
Zampedri naturalizedChilean by residence. He received his certificate of naturalization on 19 February 2025.[11]
