Kathryn Felicia Day (born June 28, 1979)[1][2] is an American actress, singer, writer, andweb series creator. She is the creator and star of theweb seriesThe Guild (2007–2013), a show loosely based on her life as agamer. She also wrote and starred in theDragon Age web seriesDragon Age: Redemption (2011). She is a founder of the online media companyGeek & Sundry, best known for hosting the showCritical Role between 2015 and 2019. Day was a member of the board of directors of theInternational Academy of Web Television from December 2009 until August 2012.[3][4]
Ontelevision, Day has playedVi in the seriesBuffy the Vampire Slayer (2003) and Dr. Holly Marten inEureka (2011), and had a recurring role asCharlie Bradbury onSupernatural (2012–2015, 2018–2020). She has also acted in films such asBring It On Again (2004), as well as the Internet musicalDr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008). In April 2017, she began appearing as Kinga Forrester inMystery Science Theater 3000.
Day was born inHuntsville, Alabama. She began her acting career at the age of 7 when she starred as Scout in a local production ofTo Kill a Mockingbird.[5] She studied operatic singing and ballet professionally, performing at concerts and competitions nationwide.Home-schooled throughout much of her childhood, she began college at the age of 16.[6]
She was aNational Merit Scholar (1995)[7] and graduated asvaledictorian of her class.[6][8] An accomplishedviolinist,[6] Day was accepted to theJuilliard School of Music but chose to attend theUniversity of Texas at Austin on a full scholarship in violin performance. She double majored inmathematics and music performance, and graduated at the age of 19 in the top 4% of her class.[8][9][10] She is also an avid player of a wide variety of video game genres. Much of her work onThe Guild web series was based on her personal experience with video games, especially when she playedWorld of Warcraft.[11][12]
After graduation, Day moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. She landed several roles in various short and independent films as well as commercials and guest spots on television shows, includingUndeclared andMaybe It's Me. These parts propelled her to larger roles: a part in the filmBring It On Again, the starring role inJune, and a recurring guest spot aspotential Slayer Vi on television'sBuffy the Vampire Slayer, a recurring role that is still occasionally used in that show's eighth season comic book series. InHBO's 2005 biopic ofFranklin D. Roosevelt,Warm Springs, Day's singing was featured when her wheelchair-using character serenaded a dinner group with "I Won't Dance".

Day is the creator, writer, and star ofThe Guild,[13] a web series which aired from 2007 to 2013 and explored theMMORPG gaming subculture.[14] The first season was primarily hosted on YouTube, where it garnered millions of views.[15] Its second season premiered onMicrosoft's three major video channels,Xbox Live,MSN Video and The Zune Marketplace, afterMicrosoft made a deal withThe Guild, allowing Day, her cast and her crew to be paid for their work.
Day also created a song and music video called "(Do You Wanna Date My) Avatar", featuring the cast dressed up as their in-game personae. The final moments of the music video itself also detailed that the release date for the third season of Day'sThe Guild would be August 25, 2009. A second song andBollywood style video "Game On" was released prior to the premiere of the fourth season ofThe Guild. A third and final music video, called "I'm the One That's Cool", features the members of the cast in the guise of an alternative band performing at a local venue, intercut with scenes of the cast as younger versions of their characters experiencing bullying at the hands of "cooler" and more popular kids while at school.
The Guild has won multiple awards, including the Greenlight Award for Best Original Digital Series Production at theSouth by Southwest festivals,[16] severalIAWTV Awards, including Best Comedy Series,[17] theYouTube Video Award for Best Series,[18] theYahoo! Video Award for Best Series,[19] and 2009 Streamy Awards for Best Comedy Web Series, Best Female Actor in a Comedy Web Series, and Best Ensemble Cast in a Web Series.[20]
In March 2012, Day announced that she would be launching a premiumYouTube channel, "Geek & Sundry", on April 2.[21] Geek & Sundry took over production ofThe Guild for Season 6. Day hosted several shows on Geek & Sundry, most notablyThe Flog,Vaginal Fantasy,Felicia's Ark, andCo-Optitude (which co-stars Felicia's brother Ryon Day.)
In 2012, Day created the web seriesTabletop withWil Wheaton. She was an executive producer for the series and appeared regularly as a guest. In the same vein, in 2015, she suggested to the original cast ofCritical Role to begin streaming their tabletop home game as a show.[22] In 2013, Geek & Sundry andAtlas Games worked together to release a promotional pack for the card gameGloom for TableTop Day 2013 with aFelicia Day, Guild Goddess card.[23]
In August 2014, Geek and Sundry was acquired byLegendary to produce content alongside ofChris Hardwick'sNerdist Industries,[24] with Day retaining creative control. On January 11, 2016, Chinese conglomerateWanda Group announced that it concluded an agreement with shareholders to acquire Legendary Entertainment for $3.5 billion.[25] In 2016, Day left Geek & Sundry after growing "fatigued in a less creative, more managerial role in the company".[26] Day said "I gave it my heart and my soul. When I realized I had given as much as I could, I needed to move on".[26]
In July 2008, Day starred as Penny in the three-part web-based musicalDr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (created byJoss Whedon, who also createdDollhouse andBuffy the Vampire Slayer, in which Day had parts).[27] Day was featured as a patient in the episode "Not Cancer" of the medical dramaHouse,[28] and had a guest starring role in an unaired episode of sci-fi dramaDollhouse entitled "Epitaph One",[29] as well as its series finale, "Epitaph Two". Also in 2008, Day was featured in a series of commercials for Sears Blue Crew.[30][31] She also appeared in the first of the revitalizedCheetos commercials.[32]
In the seriesLie to Me, on the episode called "Tractor Man", airing December 14, 2009, Day sang a song called "White Lie" alongsideBrendan Hines. Day starred withKavan Smith in theSyfy film adaption of theLittle Red Riding Hood saga, calledRed,[33] produced by Angela Mancuso.[34] Day also played the continuing role of Dr. Holly Marten in the Syfy channel's original series,Eureka, appearing in 18 episodes during the last two seasons of the show. Day has also played the role of 'Gorgol' in the web seriesMyMusic directed by The Fine Brothers.
In February 2011, Day announced that she would be starring in a new web miniseries calledDragon Age: Redemption, based on theDragon Age video game series developed byBioWare[35] and aired on October 10, 2011.[36] Day plays an elf named Tallis, and returns as the voice and likeness for the character in theDragon Age II downloadable contentMark of the Assassin.
In April 2012, it was announced that Day would host the 2012IndieCade Awards Ceremony on October 4, 2012.[37] Also in April of that year, Day appeared on the YouTube show MyMusic as a NorwegianBlack Metal singer named Gorgol.[38] She guest starred in the second season of theJane Espenson scripted web series,Husbands.[39] In October 2012, she guest starred on The Game Station podcast and appeared in an episode ofMy Drunk Kitchen.
In 2014,Alderac Entertainment Group included aFelicia Day card in the storage case expansion,The Big Geeky Box for their card gameSmash Up.[40] In 2015,Plaid Hat Games released a Felicia Day character card for their board gameDead of Winter: A Cross Roads Game for Tabletop Day 2015.[41] On August 4, 2015, Day guest starred on Episode 9 of theDear Hank & John podcast.[42] On October 1, 2016, Day provided a guest voice for theWelcome to Night Vale podcast as Zookeeper Joanna Rey.
In April 2017, she began appearing as Kinga Forrester inMystery Science Theater 3000. In August 2017, Day appeared as a guest in theMy Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic episode "The Perfect Pear", voicing Pear "Buttercup" Butter, the presumed-deceased mother of one of the show's main characters, Applejack. In the episode, she also performs a romantic ballad, titled "You're In My Head Like a Catchy Song".
From 2018 to 2019, Day appeared in the third season of the SyFy seriesThe Magicians as Poppy Kline.[43][44] Day organized and hosted aTwitch charity livestream on June 30, 2018, in aid ofRefugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES), a Texas nonprofit. The 12-hour livestream raised over $212,000.[45][46]
In 2022, Day hostedThe Official The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Podcast,[47][48] and spent two months recording with the cast and crew while they were promoting the season around the world.[49] She also interviewed cast members for a panel atNew York Comic Con, which was recorded and released as a bonus episode of the podcast in November 2022.[50] In 2024, she hosted theaftershow for the second season ofThe Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.[51]
In 2023, Day created and starred in the scriptedfantasy podcast titledThird Eye produced byAudible.[52][53][54] The show was number 3 on the list of top fiction audio shows in October 2023[55] and won an Earphones Award fromAudioFile Magazine.[56]
In 2024, Day was a guest star in the stage production ofDungeons & Dragons: The Twenty-Sided Tavern which combines actual play,improv, andimmersive theater atStage 42 in New York City.[57]
In September 2008,TV Week included her in their list of Top 10 Web Video Creators.[58]
During the inauguralStreamy Awards held in Los Angeles on March 28, 2009, Day received the award for the "Best Female Actor in a Comedy" for her work asprotagonist Cyd Sherman inThe Guild, and won the same award again in 2010.[59]
She was also recognized for her work onDr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog in 2009. Day was also nominated for the Best Guest Appearance Award for the3rd Streamy Awards.[60]
In June 2018, she won a Behind the Voice Actors Award in Best Female Vocal Performance in a Television Series in a Guest Role for her role as Pear Butter in the episode "The Perfect Pear".[61]
In 2023, Day was awarded theInkpot Award during the annualSan Diego Comic-Con.[62]

On January 3, 2017, Day announced on social media that she was pregnant and expecting a baby girl in a few weeks.[63] She announced the birth of her daughter Calliope Maeve on January 30, 2017.[64]
