Farhad Daftary

Iranian-British Islamic scholar (born 1938)

Farhad Daftary (Persian:فرهاد دفترى; born 1938[1]) is a Belgian-born Iranian-British Islamic scholar who is co-director and head of the Department of Academic Research and Publications at theInstitute of Ismaili Studies in London.[2][1][3]

He was born inBrussels. Daftary received aPh.D. in Economics from theUniversity of California, Berkeley in 1971.[4] He is a freelance consulting editor of theEncyclopædia Iranica, co-editor (withW. Madelung) of theEncyclopædia Islamica, and the general editor of the Ismaili Heritage Series and the Ismaili Texts and Translations Series.[5]
