Fannie Isabelle Sherrick

American poet (fl. 1860–1880)

Fannie Isabelle Sherrick Wardell (born 31 May,fl. 1860 – 1880) was an American poet, essayist, and columnist, best remembered for her 46romantic andphilosophical poetry, that were published in several volumes. Influenced by and a contemporary ofElla Wheeler Wilcox, she was a descendant ofMoses Cleaveland and a native ofSt. Louis, and worked as a teacher.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]

A character inHenry James'The Portrait of a Lady may be referring to Sherrick's poem "Summer Rain".[9]
