Fajr nafl prayer (Arabic:رَغِيبَةُ الْفَجْرِ ;dawn supererogatory prayer) is anIslamicprayer (salat) that is performed after the secondadhan ofdawn and beforeFajr (dawn-time prayer).[1][2]
The optional dawn prayer is a pair ofrakats which are offered to God just before performing the obligatoryFajr prayer which isfard.[3][4]
Thisnafilah is considered by Muslim jurists (fuqaha) to be aconfirmed Sunnah [ar], and it represents the beginning of the daytime prayers of theMuslim day, while theWitr is the closing of the nighttime prayers just after theChafa'a prayer.[5][6]
ThisFajr nafilah is included in the prayers ofregular Nafl prayers (ar - صلاة النافلة), which are theSunnah prayers that follow the five obligatory prayers (Arabic:الصَّلَوَاتُ الْخَمْسَةُ).[7][8]
This optional prayer performed before the obligatorydawn prayer is classified as aconfirmed Sunnah according to Islamic law, is made of tworakates before theFajr prayer are sealed with onetaslim, andMuhammad performed them and advised his companions (Sahaba) to.[9][10]
Muhammad encouraged it in thehadith that ImamMuslim ibn al-Hajjaj narrated in his bookSahih Muslim within the chapter ontraveler's prayer [ar]:[11][12]
