Fairplay is anunincorporated community andcensus-designated place (CDP) inWashington County,Maryland, United States.[2] Its population was 580 as of the2010 census.[4] It is sometimes recognized, along with neighboringTilghmanton, as Fairplay-Tilghmanton; the two communities share a post office as well as a fire company. Fairplay is located betweenHagerstown andSharpsburg, alongMaryland Route 65 and is part of theHagerstown Metropolitan Area.Marsh Mills was listed on theNational Register of Historic Places in 1996.[5]
According to tradition, Fairplay was so named on account of the welcoming nature of the first settlers.[6]
Refugee Resettlement Watch, ananti-Muslim hate group, has its headquarters in Fairplay.[7]
