Facundo Díaz Acosta (born 15 December 2000) is an Argentine professionaltennis player.He has a career-highATP singles ranking of world No. 47, achieved on 22 April 2024 and a doubles ranking of No. 173, achieved on 28 November 2022.[1]Díaz Acosta has won one singles ATP title at the2024 Argentina Open.

Díaz Acosta competes mainly on theATP Challenger Tour and has won five Challenger singles titles.[2]

Career

2020–2022: ATP debut, Maiden Challenger title

Díaz Acosta made his ATP main draw debut at the2020 Argentina Open after receiving a wildcard for the singles and doubles main draws.[3]

In May 2022, Díaz Acosta won his first Challenger title at the Dove Men+Care2022 Challenger Coquimbo in Chile on clay.[4]

2023–2024: Major and Masters debuts, First ATP title, top 50

He recorded his first ATP win at the2023 Argentina Open as a wildcard against his compatriotFederico Coria[5] and achieved his best ranking as world No. 134 on 8 May 2023, following his second ATP Challenger title at the2023 Savannah Challenger.[6][7]Díaz Acosta made his Grand Slam tournament main draw debut as a lucky loser at the2023 French Open – Men's singles, but was defeated byJason Kubler in the first round.[8] He also entered the2023 US Open losing toJohn Isner in the first round.[9]

He made hisAustralian Open debut losing to 12th seedTaylor Fritz in five sets.[10][11]Díaz Acosta reached his first ATP quarterfinal at the2024 Córdoba Open defeating two compatriots, qualifier and ATP debutantFederico Agustín Gómez[12] and lucky loserThiago Agustín Tirante.[13][11] The following week at the2024 Argentina Open Díaz Acosta reached back-to-back quarterfinals defeating compatriot and fourth seedFrancisco Cerúndolo in straight sets.[14] He made his first ATP semifinal defeatingDušan Lajović setting up again a meeting with Federico Coria[15] whom he defeated again this time to reach his first ATP final. He won his first ATP title without dropping a set the whole tournament, defeating third seedNicolás Jarry in the final.[16] As a result he reached a new career-high ranking in the top 60 on 19 February 2024.[11][17][18] In the next ATP 500 tournament inRio he defeatedStan Wawrinka in straight sets.[19] As a result, he moved to a new career-high in the top 55 on 26 February 2024.[11] He lost toSebastián Báez.[20] The following week he played inSantiago, where he won his first round match againstPedro Cachín,[21] before losing againstPedro Martínez.[22]

He made hisATP Masters 1000 debut at the2024 Miami Open, losing his first round match toAlexei Popyrin in straight sets.[23] At the next Masters inMonaco, he entered the main draw as a lucky loser, but lost toRoberto Bautista Agut in straight sets in the first round.[24]Following his second round win at the2024 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell over 15th seedBorna Ćorić, he reached the top 50 in the singles rankings on 22 April 2024.[25] Later defeatingFábián Marozsán in the third round, coming back from a set down to win the match.[26] In the quarterfinals he lost to fifth seedStefanos Tsitsipas.[27]
