Félix Eduardo Torres Caicedo (born 11 January 1997) is an Ecuadorian professionalfootballer who plays as adefender forCampeonato Brasileiro Serie A clubCorinthians and theEcuador national team.[2][3]
After beginning his career withLDU Portoviejo, Torres signed forBarcelona in 2017 before joining Santos Laguna in 2019. He made his international debut in 2019 and represented Ecuador at both the2021 Copa America and the2022 FIFA World Cup. At the beginning of 2024 he signed with Brazilian teamSport Club Corinthians Paulista.
Torres began his career withLDU Portoviejo before signing forEcuadorian Serie A sideBarcelona in December 2016, on an initial one-year loan deal.[4] He made his debut for the side in a 2–1 victory overMacará on 2 July and scored his first goal in a win overGuayaquil City F.C. on 5 November.[2] Two weeks later, Torres joined the club permanently in November 2017 having made six appearances during his loan spell, signing a six-year contract.[5]
In January 2019 Torres transferred over to Mexican clubSantos Laguna,[6] following his former Barcelona coachGuillermo Almada who had taken charge of the side.[7] In October 2019 Torres was punished for indiscipline by the club and as of November 2019 has not played since.[8][9]
Torres was announced at Corinthians on 14 January 2024, signing a four year contract with the club.[10]
After playing for Ecuador at the2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup, Torres was called up for the national team in February 2017 but did not play.[11]
Torres was selected in the 28 player Ecuador squad for the2021 Copa América.[12]
Torres was named in the Ecuadorian squad for the2022 FIFA World Cup,[13] playing in all three of his nation's matches as they were eliminated in the group stage.[2]
Torres was called up to the final 26-man Ecuador squad for the2024 Copa América.[14]
