Fánk, a Hungarian donut for Mardi Gras from the Farsang carnival season preceding the final Busójárás, (Ash Wednesday).

Fánk (Hungarian pronunciation:[ˈfaːŋk]) is a sweet traditionalHungarian donut.[1] The most commonly used ingredients are:flour,yeast,butter,egg yolk,[2] a little bit of rum[citation needed],salt,milk andoil[2][3] to deep fry with. After the pastry has risen for approximately 30 minutes the result is an extreme lightdoughnut-like pastry.[citation needed] Fánk is traditionally served withpowdered sugar andlekvár, Hungarian thick jams, which mostly consists of apricot jam.[2][3]
