TheExtremaduran Wikipedia (Extremaduran:Güiquipedia n'estremeñu) orGüiquipedia (formerlyGüiquipeya[1]) is theExtremaduran-language edition ofWikipedia, a free, onlineencyclopedia.[2] It has 4,155 articles and is ranked 231st in the Wikipedia list according to the number of articles.[3]
Different media have criticized the Extremaduran version of Wikipedia. It is questioned that the Extremaduran is not really a separate language, but instead a dialect ofAsturian andCastilian, and that it does not have defined spelling rules,[4] although the OSCEC (Monitoring and Coordination Body of Extremaduran and its Culture) has worked on thestandardization of Extremaduran throughdictionaries and normativegrammar materials.[5] The fact that the page only has three main contributors, the same who initiated the project, has also been the subject of controversy.[6][7]
