Exothrix refers toDermatophyte infections of the hair that infect the hair surface. This is in contrast toEndothrix, where a Dermatophyte mainly invades the hair shaft. Using an ultravioletWood's lamp, endothrix infections will notfluoresce whereas exothrix infections will.
