TheEuropean Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) is a pan-European alliance of 127 organisations in 40 countries protecting and advancing the rights ofrefugees,asylum seekers and otherforcibly displaced people. ECRE's mission is to promote the establishment of fair and humane European asylum policies and practices in accordance with international human rights law.[1]

History

The European Council on Refugees and Exiles (ECRE) was established in 1974.[2]

It has developed and continues to manage theAsylum Information Database (AIDA), theEuropean Database of Asylum Law (EDAL) and theEuropean Legal Network on Asylum (ELENA).[3]

ECRE also publishesAIDA reports (country reports, comparative reports and briefings).[7]ECRE legal submissions include legal challenges, interventions and implementation of judgments.[8]
