The1935 FIBA European Championship, commonly calledEuroBasket 1935, was the firstFIBA EuroBasket regionalbasketball championship, held by FIBA,[1] as well as a test event preceding the firstOlympic basketball tournament at the1936 Summer Olympics. Ten national teams affiliated with theInternational Basketball Federation (FIBA) took part in the competition. The event was hosted bySwitzerland and held inGeneva in May, 1935.

The 2012Latvian filmDream Team 1935 is based on the events of the tournament. It tells the story of theLatvia team, the winners of the tournament.

Preliminary round

Before the tournament began, a qualification game was played betweenSpain andPortugal. The game was held inMadrid, Spain and refereed by Spanish coachMariano Manent. Spain won, 33–12.
