Eugene (Gene) Jarosewich (1926–2007) was a chemist in the department of mineral sciences at theSmithsonian Institution.[1] Jarosewich was known worldwide for wet chemical analyses ofmeteorites.[2] Working with specimens from theNational Mineral Collection, Gene and his co-workers also developed a set of commonly used standards forelectron microprobe analyses.

The mineralJarosewichite[3] andasteroid4320 Jarosewich[4] are named in his honor.
