Ethan Edward Hayter (born 18 September 1998) is a Britishroad andtrack cyclist, who currently rides forUCI WorldTeamSoudal–Quick-Step.[3]

Career

Hayter started riding atHerne Hill Velodrome in 2012, aged 13. He raced for the VC Londres cycling club from 2012 to 2016, and remains an honorary member. In 2016 he joinedBritish Cycling's Senior Academy squad,[4] relinquishing his A-level studies in order to join the programme.[5]

He rode in themen's team pursuit event at the2018 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, winning a gold medal.[6][7] In August 2018 it was reported that Hayter had joinedTeam Sky as astagiaire until the end of the year.[5] That month he also competed at theEuropean Track Championships inGlasgow, where he took bronze medals as part of the Britishteam pursuit squad,[8] theMadison pairing alongsideOliver Wood[9] and an individual gold in theomnium.[10]

In November 2019, it was announced that Hayter would race forTeam Ineos from 2020, on a three-year contract.[11]Hayter competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics.

In August 2024 it was announced that Hayter would be leavingIneos Grenadiers and would move toSoudal–Quick-Step from 2025 on a two-season contract.[12]

Personal life

As of 2021 he was living inManchester with fellow cyclistFred Wright.[13] He is the older brother and Team Ineos teammate ofLeo Hayter.[citation needed]
