Erpetosaurus is an extinctgenus ofdvinosauriantemnospondyl within thefamilyEobrachyopidae. Erpetosaurus is only known from the Upper Freeport Coal,Allegheny Group,Middle Pennsylvanian ofLinton, Ohio, USA. Some unique features of thetemnospondyls are that they have a single fang on eachpremaxilla on theanterior maxilla for the reception of twodentary fangs; and an elongate, tube-like backside extension of theparasphenoid, both hinting to an aquatic hunting lifestyle.[1]
