Erithacus (Latin:erithacus;Ancient Greek:ἐρίθακος,romanized: eríthakos,lit. 'robin' (erithacos)[1]) is a genus ofpasserinebird that contains a single extant species, theEuropean robin (Erithacus rubecula). TheJapanese robin andRyukyu robin were also placed in this genus (asErithacus akahige andE. komadori), but were moved to the genusLarvivora in 2006.[2]
